Vanderbilt physicists in this group are Professors Will Johns, Paul Sheldon and Med Webster, Research Assistant Professors Dan Engh and Eric Vaandering, graduate students Eduardo Luiggi and Jay Moore, and undergraduate Kevin Givens. Surya Pathak is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate (Ph.D. in EECS) working on Grid Computing R&D and its applications to problems in particle physics.

Particle physics experiments present significant technical challenges. As such they provide an interesting arena for faculty in other fields to pursue their research interests (and in turn help us overcome the technical challenges). We collaborate very closely with other Vanderbilt faculty on problems in grid computing (Professors Andy Gohkale and Doug Schmidt of EECS), large-scale, heterogeneous, real-time systems (Research Professors Ted Bapty and Sandeep Neema of ISIS), and high performance computing and grid research and development (Research Professor Alan Tackett of ACCRE).

Recent "alumni" include former postdocs Matt Nehring (now an Associate Professor at Adams State College in Colorado), Kevin Stenson (now an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado), former graduate student Micheal Hosack (now at Southern Methodist), and Vanderbilt undergraduate students Adam Bryant (now a graduate student at Berkeley), Richard Helms (now a graduate student at Cornell), Lettice Lzung and Jonathan Newport (also at Cornell), Jonathan Pellish (graduate student in EECS at Vanderbilt), and David Schmidt (working in industry). Michael McClung and Ruben Ybarra worked with us through the NSF REU program.

Not pictured are current and former Vanderbilt undergraduates Parker Gray, Jeff Herbstman, John Jumper, Lenka Tomankova, and Lisa Whitehead.
